Anti-Static
What is Anti-Static PVC?
Anti-Static PVC or sometimes you may hear it being called “dissipative PVC” or even “Data Centre PVC” as the product is commonly found within data centres but throughout this document, I will refer to it as “Anti-Static PVC”. So, Anti-Static PVC has an active ingredient inside the product which gives it the anti-static the properties, these ingredients are added to the PVC at compounding level (the beginning of manufacturing) the purpose of the material is to be slightly conductive as this will allow for the static charges to build up on the PVC thus lowing the static charge in the surrounding area.
Where do I use Anti-Static?
The most popular places for Anti-Static PVC to be used is electric sensitive areas, these maybe data centres or even electrical manufacturing plants, electrical component manufacturing, these types of environments have a high influx of electrical energy and sometimes it may not be efficient to work within those types of environments, so in this case when you have some of the Anti-Static PVC you will be angle to absorb some if not all of the electrical charge making the environment much more bearable to work in.
Why use Anti-Static?
Anti-Static PVC is a very efficient way to decrease the amount of built-up static charge as compared to other industry similar products, but Anti-Static PVC is cheaper to produce, lighter in weight and more cost effective to ship.
